Tasks: Participates in planning and directing the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations. Effectively classifies dutiable import/export shipments to ensure compliance with all government agency rules and regulations; computes duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight and volume of merchandise that is imported or exported to foreign countries. Processes all requests for extensions, expiration, cancellation and all governement entries. Examines invoices, bills of lading and shipping documents to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Communicates with origin and destination locations regarding shipment status and special handling and delivery processes. Applies for Import/Export Permits and Certificates of Eligibility. Provides information to and communication with department of foreign affairs. Responsible for generation of invoices on a daily basis. DHL currently has a full time opportunity for a Commercial Collector at our financial center in Houston, TX. The position is housed within DHL Express US’s Customer Finance Support Center, which is located near I-45N and the Beltway in North Houston. The Center handles all financial services for the DHL Express Americas business. The Commercial Collector effectively provides subject matter expertise in managing multi-million dollar account portfolios. Initiates customer contact and coordinates with sales and other departments/divisions in the resolution of disputes that affect the ability to collect receivables. Utilizes industry best practices to conduct root cause analysis in order to identify underlying issue(s).

Principles/Accountabilities:
Revenue Management
  • Contacts customers by phone according to priority list in SAP or other prescribed system.
  • Updates SAP with accurate and detailed information regarding collections status.
  • Follows established processes to ensure customers comply with contractual payment terms.
  • Negotiates with customers, when applicable, in order to protect DHL’s corporate best interests.
  • Preempts potential problems and provides effective solutions in reaction to application of concepts, techniques, knowledge or processes.
  • Escalate collections issues to Management / Sales in a timely manner when necessary. 
  • Meets individual monthly cash collections targets.
  • Meets individual monthly aged debt standards.
  • Meets individual daily average call standards.
  • Adheres to the appropriate DHL treatment collection plan as outlined by management.
Systems Usage and Documentation:
  • Records collection activity and related notes in collection system as directed.
  • Directs customers to appropriate systems to pull invoice copies and supporting documentation.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Subject matter in service, production, or support area
  • Must be able to effectively communicate via phone and email.
  • Prior Intermediate Microsoft Excel experience is required.
  • Technical certification or associate degree.
  • Four years or more of prior commercial collections experience.
  • This position will require Microsoft Excel and Collections Writing sample assessments.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The role of the Air Import Supervisor is key to the Air Import Operations.  The Air Import manual and Best Practices outline the expectations and standards of each Air Import Operation.  The Air Import Supervisor is responsible to ensure that these policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
 Manages the daily work flow and assignments to the staff on the shift
 Ensures all employees are fully trained in all aspects of their job as well as cross-trained in other areas when possible
 Monitor, take action and eliminate Customs and Border Protection (CBP) rejections
Provide customer service and education in order to meet CBP requirements
Establish and maintain working relationships with internal departments and other offices
Implementation of new customers into the Air Freight environment
Ensure all invoices are generated within the KPI standards
Monitor and reconcile open items on the WFAR
Monitor and reconcile weekly items on the PLOG
Monitor and reconcile weekly items needing reporting to General Order
Monitor and reconcile daily recovery manifests, especially shortages and overages
Reconcile Weekly inventory reports
Ensures customer profiles are accurate and updates.
Maintains employee records and completes yearly employee performance reviews.
Assists and answers customer inquires and other related customer service functions.
Ensure continuous improvement processes to increase efficiencies, reduces waste and improve performance to our customers.
Ensure employees comply with rate and service requirements established by customers.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Generally 5 plus years Airfreight import operations experience.  Generally understands basic managerial approaches for work direction, motivation, and disciplinary action.  Professional certification required in some areas.

Ensure that all in bonds are printed and provided to the Traffic team for the movement of cargo to final destination.
Answer the phone calls and provide good customer service.
Must have a positive and can do attitude
Must be able to problem solve and seek out resources for assistance to reconcile on their shift.
Work closely with the warehouse management team on freight recoveries.
