DHL currently has a full time opportunity for a Commercial Collector at our financial center in Houston, TX. The position is housed within DHL Express US’s Customer Finance Support Center, which is located near I-45N and the Beltway in North Houston. The Center handles all financial services for the DHL Express Americas business. The Commercial Collector effectively provides subject matter expertise in managing multi-million dollar account portfolios. Initiates customer contact and coordinates with sales and other departments/divisions in the resolution of disputes that affect the ability to collect receivables. Utilizes industry best practices to conduct root cause analysis in order to identify underlying issue(s).

Principles/Accountabilities:
Revenue Management
  • Contacts customers by phone according to priority list in SAP or other prescribed system.
  • Updates SAP with accurate and detailed information regarding collections status.
  • Follows established processes to ensure customers comply with contractual payment terms.
  • Negotiates with customers, when applicable, in order to protect DHL’s corporate best interests.
  • Preempts potential problems and provides effective solutions in reaction to application of concepts, techniques, knowledge or processes.
  • Escalate collections issues to Management / Sales in a timely manner when necessary. 
  • Meets individual monthly cash collections targets.
  • Meets individual monthly aged debt standards.
  • Meets individual daily average call standards.
  • Adheres to the appropriate DHL treatment collection plan as outlined by management.
Systems Usage and Documentation:
  • Records collection activity and related notes in collection system as directed.
  • Directs customers to appropriate systems to pull invoice copies and supporting documentation.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Subject matter in service, production, or support area
  • Must be able to effectively communicate via phone and email.
  • Prior Intermediate Microsoft Excel experience is required.
  • Technical certification or associate degree.
  • Four years or more of prior commercial collections experience.
  • This position will require Microsoft Excel and Collections Writing sample assessments.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

The Position:


The job holder is responsible to provide administrative assistance and support to the MICE Team in all business units: Conferences, Events, Exhibitions and Incentives including proposal writing, costing, negotiating with suppliers and handling client requests.

Job Accountabilities

Account Executives- Operations & Product Development

    Adhere to operational procedures within the team and provide constructive recommendations to increase productivity.
    Provide administrative assistance to the AM?s as when required including (but not limited to):
    1)Writing and sending an RFP
    2)Accurately collating and presenting information
    3)Writing creative proposals with a structured approach and not a mere ?cut and paste?
    4)Negotiating rates and terms with suppliers as directed by AM.
    5)Assisting in producing operational manuals for all events
    6)Confirming all relevant details with suppliers
    Assisting in client costing and ensuring they are 100% accurate and revenue opportunities have been    maximised.
    As and when necessary provide on site support on events as directed by the AM.
    Initiate brainstorming and knowledge share between the business units.
    Meet client expectations on all events.
    Regular reporting to AM?s in the form of progress reports.
    Ability to juggle workloads and prioritise tasks.
    Work as a team and ability to handle stressful situations.

Experience and Qualifications:

    Education: 12 Years schooling or equivalent.
    At least 4 years? experience in the Business Tourism or MICE Industry.
    At least 1 year experience in a project support role either working in or with a corporate environment, experience in operational support from DMC/PCO background would be preferred
    Must have experience in assistance and support in successfully managing events from start to finish in the corporate field.
    Ability to negotiate with people at all levels
    Exceptional English written/Spoken and knowledge of other languages like Arabic and German is preferred
    Strong MS Office skills (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access)
    Valid U.A.E driving license
    Experience in managing budgets is preferred
